  • Subriel Matias Next Fight: Live on DAZN for Matias’ homecoming in Manati

Last month, Subriel Matias signed a multi-fight co-promotional deal with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing to continue his career live on DAZN.

The highly-rated Matias (20-1 20 KOs) landed the vacant IBF Super-Lightweight title in February 2023, forcing Jeremias Ponce to retire after five rounds.

He made one successful defence of his title against mandatory challenger Shohjahon Ergashev in November, forcing another retirement – the fifth consecutive retirement win for the Puerto Rican.

Hearn now looks to bring Matias home to Manati, Puerto Rico on Saturday, June 15 per ESPN’s Mike Coppinger.

The Matchroom promoter wants to build Matias locally and will likely take him to New York for a later fight where Hearn has done shows with another Puerto Rican, Edgar Berlanga.

Matias is finalising a deal to face unbeaten Aussie southpaw Liam Paro in his first fight with Matchroom.

Paro is coming off a stoppage win against Montana Love in December. The Australian was forced to pull out of a Robbie Davies Jr fight last March and a Regis Prograis title shot in June due to injury.

Matchroom also represents Richardson Hitchins, who would be mandatory for Matias with a win on April 6 against Gustavo Lemos and has previously worked with WBC champion Devin Haney.
