Davies vs Barroso

Golden Boy confirmed on Wednesday that the WBA Interim championship bout between Britain’s O’Hara Davies and Ismael Barroso, which was scheduled to take place this Saturday in Texas, has been postponed.

The reason for the postponement is issues on Davies’ side in obtaining his visa. Davies-Barroso is expected to be rescheduled for Golden Boy’s first card of 2024 when Vergil Ortiz meets Fredrick Lawson in Las Vegas.

Arnold Barboza’s Golden Boy debut is also pencilled in for the card – another fight which was supposed to happen this Saturday.

Devin Haney Gives Up Lightweight Straps

Devin Haney will face WBC super lightweight titleist Regis Prograis in front of more than 15,000 fans at the Chase Center, San Francisco on Dec 9 live on DAZN PPV in the US & Canada (Regular DAZN worldwide).

Ahead of the move to 140, the Undisputed lightweight champion has confirmed that he has given up all four of his 135-pound titles as he feels he has outgrown the weight.

Should he beat Houston-based Prograis next Saturday, he plans to move up once again to 147 in the hopes of becoming a three-division champion.

One fight that may stop such a move is Ryan Garcia. Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing has matching rights on Haney should he win on Dec 9 and with Teofimo Lopez rejecting Top Rank’s offer for him to face Garcia, a fight between Haney and Garcia, who fight on DAZN a week from each other, could make sense.

Lomachenko vs Kambosos

With Haney vacating his belts, the IBF’s #2 and #3 contenders George Kambosos and Vasyl Lomachenko will likely meet for that version of the title.

The pair are understood to be in talks for an April 14 (Sunday afternoon) clash in Australia. Perth is the frontrunner to host the fight, which will likely be shown on FOX PPV in Aus, ESPN in the United States and Sky Sports in the UK.

Buatsi vs Azeez Undercard

Adam Azim will put his European title up for grabs against the Zambian-native Enock Poulsen (14-0, 5 KOs) on the February 3 Joshua Buatsi-Dan Azeez undercard at Wembley’s OVO Arena, live on Sky Sports.

Also on that show, IBO Lightweight champion Caroline Dubois will have her 9th professional outing against an opponent TBD.

Haney vs Prograis Undercard

April Mathie has withdrawn from her Dec 9 IBF Bantamweight title fight with Ebanie Bridges due to injury. Bridges will instead put her strap on the line against Japan’s Miyo Yoshida, according to Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix.

NoSmokeSport.com has learnt that Andy Cruz’s opponent Hector Tanajara is also out of their scheduled ten round Lightweight bout and efforts are being made to secure former IBO champion Jovanni Straffon, who knocked out James Tennyson in one round in May 2021, as the replacement.
