Kyle O’Reilly made his AEW debut fresh off leaving WWE NXT. He was thrusted into AEW with his former Undisputed Era faction with the likes of Bobby Fish, who’s now gone and Adam Cole, who is now injured. Roderick Strong then made the jump to AEW, but sadly Kyle has been out for over a year due to injury which needed neck fusion surgery. Now, there’s been an update.
Kyle O’Reilly Update
Following Kyle’s surgery in September 2022, it was revealed that he had some post-surgical issues that followed. Kyle then began working with a strength and conditioning specialist and has been working hard towards a comeback. Now, Fightful Select has reported that he’s been backstage and that comeback could be sooner than later.
“Kyle O’Reilly has been out of action for 18 months, with no sign of a return on-screen within AEW. Unfortunately, the updates in the summer we heard weren’t good. Sources had indicated to Fightful that O’Reilly was not factored into AEW plans due to his injury, and there is currently no timetable for him return. At least one part of that has changed, as we’re told Kyle O’Reilly has been backstage recently and is looking like he could return to programming after a period of it looking quite unlikely.”
This is great news for Kyle O’Reilly fans. It seemed like he was off to a solid start in AEW but once the ball started rolling, he was sidelined. He did have a Pay-Per-View match against Darby Allin that was well received and had some funny on screen moments with the likes of Sting. Now, things have changed a lot in AEW since Kyle was there. People have left, new people have arrived, and he could potentially be a singles star moving forward with Adam on the shelf and Roderick in a faction with The Kingdom. Hopefully soon we can see O’Reilly on our TV again before years end.
