Tetsuya Naito Is The IWGP World Heavyweight Champion

Tetsuya Naito successfully challenged SANADA for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestle Kingdom 18. This marks Naito’s first reign with the championship, following its inception in March 2021.

SANADA held the championship for 271 days, with his reign beginning at Sakura Genesis in April 2023. This now becomes the longest reign in the title’s history.

Naito won the 2023 G1 Climax, which put him on the fast track to challenging SANADA for the gold. Following the match, EVIL and Dick Togo attacked Naito and attempted to take the title but SANADA stopped that.

Wrestle Kingdom 18 ended with Tetsuya Naito at the apex of the mountain as he once again held the promotion’s top gold.
