Erik is one half of the Viking Raiders Tag Team with Ivar on the WWE RAW brand. Recently, Erik was injured and required fusion surgery. Erik hasn’t wrestled since the September 14 episode of WWE Main Event, which was taped on September 11. He was supposed to compete on the September 18 edition of WWE Raw, but was not cleared for the match. Now, he has underwent surgery.
Erik Gets Neck Fusion Surgery
In an update from RAW commentary in early October, it was said that Erik will be out of action “for the foreseeable future.” On November 1, Erik took to Instagram to announce that he had C6/C7 neck fusion surgery. He thanked the doctors and WWE and stated that the surgery was successful, that also noting his recovery begins now. You can read his full statement below.
“I cannot express the proper gratitude and thankfulness to the amazing Dr Cordover and his incredible staff at @andrews_sports_medicine and St Vincent’s Hospital in Birmingham, AL and to @wwe for always making sure I have the best care possible. C6 / C7 fusion surgery was successful and recovery begins now. I’m excited for all the possibilities once my cybernetic upgrades come fully online.”
Erik jokes that he will become a robot following the recovery. Though that would be great, we do wish Erik a speedy and safe recovery. Now, Ivar will continue his singles journey until Erik returns. Ivar has a intercontinental championship contenders match coming up on next weeks RAW.
