AEW Collision Debut Venue Revealed: CM Punk Return Imminent
All Elite Wrestling revealed last week that Warner Brothers Discovery has added more AEW programming to their networks with the announcement that ‘AEW Collision’ is on the way. The new show taking place on TNT every Saturday at 8pm EST starting on June 17th.
Now, it has been revealed on tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite that the first location for the debut episode will be in Chicago, Illinois at the United Center. This is the home state of wrestling star CM Punk and the arena that he made his AEW debut in over a year ago.
CM Punk has been out of action due to injury and legal battles concerning a real life backstage brawl between himself and several other wrestlers. We’ve not seen CM Punk in a AEW ring since August when the debacle took place.
Rumors started swirling about CM Punk’s imminent return to All Elite Wrestling when AEW Collision was first revealed, with the possibility that CM Punk will headline the new show, keeping him separate from AEW Dynamite and The Elite, whom he fought with. Reports earlier this week stated that CM Punk signed documents which covered speaking about certain subjects, disparagement clauses, and ensuring he appears at scheduled television dates, largely to protect AEW in several situations, due to past issues.
Despite documents being sent over, it’s said that CM Punk and AEW remain in positive contact and a return is all but ready to happen.
With the AEW Collision debut episode happening in his hometown, it seems safe to say that CM Punk is returning to the ring next month.
