BREAKING: Oleksandr Usyk Signs With Saudi Arabia’s Skills Challenge Entertainment

Unified Heavyweight Champion Oleksandr Usyk Signs Saudi Deal

Unified WBA, IBF, and WBO Heavyweight champion, Ukraine’s Oleksandr Usyk has officially signed with Saudi Arabia’s Skills Challenge Entertainment per an announcement by WBC Cruiserweight champion Badou Jack via his Instagram page.

Usyk’s signing with Skills Challenge will not see his next fight against Daniel Dubois be hosted in the territory but future fights with WBC Heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and former champion Deontay Wilder will land in the Kingdom.

After winning Olympic gold, the Ukrainian unified the cruiserweight division through the world boxing super series having won the undisputed title in 2018.

He then signed a 3-fight deal with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing that saw him gain notoriety in the UK and the US, headlining on DAZN stateside and two UK PPVs.

Usyk had to wait for his Heavyweight shot as months of negotiations commenced for Fury-Joshua but after they fell through, Usyk finally got his chance and convincingly upset Anthony Joshua claiming three belts.

Prince Khaled/Saudi Arabia staged the Usyk-Joshua rematch and it was the same result. Saudi now wants to do the Undisputed Heavyweight title and they have secured the first step in doing so.

Tyson Fury is the second half of the fight and with plans to face Joshua in September ending before they even started, all roads lead to the Undisputed Heavyweight championship in December.

Oleksandr Usyk’s Next Fight

Last month, Alek Krassyuk (K2 Promotions) won the promotional rights to the WBA mandatory title defense between his fighter Oleksandr Usyk and Queensberry Promotions’ charge Daniel Dubois.

Krassyuk successfully outbid the English company headed by Frank Warren with an offer of $8,057,000 which was around $2,400,000 higher than the $5,620,050 bid offered by Dubois’ promoter.

Usyk, the WBA, IBF, and WBO Heavyweight champion, will officially receive 75% of the purse ($6,042,750) whilst the WBA’s secondary champion Dubois is entitled to 25% ($2,014,250).

The Ukrainian promoter originally stated that the contest would take place on August 12 at the 45,000-capacity Wrocław Stadium in Wrocław, Poland but he has now confirmed to TVP Sport that the date for the unified title fight will be two weeks later on August 26.

Ukrainian independence day is on Thursday, August 24 and therefore Krassyuk has decided to stage the fight two days later, instead of August 12, as he believes it is the ‘perfect opportunity’ for the fight.

Details of the TV, or streaming rights are yet to be disclosed, with Alex Krassyuk telling NoSmokeSport last week that the “Usyk vs Dubois TV rights depend on the offer”.
