Most Valuable Prospect Ashton Sylve MVP

Most Valuable Prospect: Ashton Sylve

Most Valuable Promotions, the company co-owned by Jake Paul, held their first ever Most Valuable Prospects event, which was headlined by Ashton Sylve, the newest signee to MVP.

Originally, Sylve was set to fight Angel Rebollar before a medical pullout occurred and Adam Kipenga stepped in on short notice as the replacement opponent. Despite getting a late-notice opponent change, this seemingly didn’t phase Ashton one bit.

Ashton Sylve MVP

The 19-year-old undefeated fighter (8-0) nicknamed “H20” showed why he’s been talked about in such high regard by his peers. From round one, Sylve wasted no time putting Kipenga on the back foot, which ended up being the story of the fight.

Though Adam Kipenga got in a couple of nice shots, they were few and far between. Sylve showed great head movement and footwork when needed, but was ultimately controlling the fight for every round with a good mix-up of shots, heavily focusing on putting together combinations to the body. The body shots were there all night for H20.

Kipenga showed his toughness as this was the first time that Sylve was taken to a decision. Though he predicted that he’d be able to finish the fight in under four rounds, Kipenga proved that maybe he was underestimated. Even though he didn’t get the finish, Ashton Sylve made the fight his nearly the entire time, and as commentary pointed out, this was basically a showcase for him.

In the end, Ashton Smith defeated Adam Kipenga via Unanimous Decision with all three judges scoring the fight 80-72. Ashton topped off what was a decent night of action for MVP’s first prospect showcase.

It was then announced following the main event that Most Valuable Prospects 2 will be on August 18th, the third event will be on October 27th and the fourth edition of Most Valuable Prospects will take place on December 15th. Who will be the next prospect to shine in the spotlight?
