Dana White Wants To Forget About Lewis vs. Almeida

Dana White Wants To Forget About Lewis vs. Almeida

Derrick Lewis and Jailton Almeida headlined the UFC Fight Night in São Paulo, Brazil on November 4th. The event was originally supposed to be headlined by Jailton Almeida and Curtis Blaydes, until Blaydes was injured and forced to pull out, allowing Lewis to step in on short notice.

Dana White Didn’t Like Almeida vs. Lewis

Jailton Almeida ended up getting the unanimous decision victory in a fight that was unanimously thought of as boring by everyone who watched and that includes UFC President Dana White. In a new Q&A on the Threads app, someone asked Dana f he ever considered giving the fight a “most boring fight” award, to which Dana answered; “I don’t disagree with you, and no, no I will not award anybody for boring fight of the night. What we try to do with those kind of fights is forget they even happened. So, do me that favor, forget you watched that fight.”

Usually Dana loves hard-fought, chaotic fights and gives out performance bonuses after every UFC card. He’s been very outspoken in the past about how he likes guys and girls who try to put on a great fight instead of playing it safe. In this case, Jailton Almeida had a plan to take Derrick Lewis down and keep him there, and it worked in his favor to get the win. Jailton was a big prospect coming into that fight, but how it played out didn’t do him any favors in the eyes of the fans and apparently Dana White, too. In his words, forget that even happened.

Dana White answered a few other questions and even slyly dropped that Sean O’Malley vs. Chito Vera 2 will take place in Miami, Florida. Beforehand, we did not have a location for that fight. So, an official announcement should be coming soon.
