Alexandre Pantoja vs. Brandon Royval Made Official
UFC 296 will have two title fights on the bill, as we now know that the UFC Flyweight Champion Alexandre Pantoja will defend his title for the very first time. Pantoja was on a three fight win streak that earned him a shot at the Flyweight Championship and he received that shot back in July at UFC 290 where he defeated former champion Brandon Moreno via split decision. Now, in December, he will defend his title against a familiar foe.
Back in 2021, Brandon Royval and Alexandre Pantoja were just two contenders trying to climb their way to the top. They were matched up together at UFC on ESPN 29, and Pantoja picked up the decision win. Royval on the other hand, went on to fight three more times following that loss and won all three, with two of the three being round one finishes. Royval is 5-2 in the UFC, with his only two losses being against current champ Pantoja, and former champ; Brandon Moreno. Now, Royval has the opportunity to get one of those losses back and get a championship at the same time when he faces Alexandre Pantoja in December. Who walks out of the rematch as champion? We will find out at UFC 296.
