Katie Taylor vs Chantelle Cameron Set For Dublin For Cameron’s 140-Pound Titles

Katie Taylor‘s homecoming has been years in the making and after Amanda Serrano‘s withdrawal, it looked like Irish fans were going to have to wait a little bit longer but Britain’s Chantelle Cameron has stepped in to save the day.

It will be officially announced on the Diego Pacheco vs Jack Cullen DAZN broadcast tonight from the M&S Bank Arena In Liverpool, England that Ireland’s Taylor (22-0, 6 KOs) will challenge long-time rival Cameron (17-0, 8 KOs) for her UNDISPUTED Super Lightweight titles on May 20 at the 3Arena, Dublin, live and exclusive on DAZN.

After Serrano pulled out of their clash, promoter Eddie Hearn revealed that the focus was going to be on rescheduling the rematch of the 2022 fight of the year for later in the summer but was adamant that if Taylor Serrano 2 couldn’t be made in the first 2/3’s of the year, Taylor would still fight May 20.

The Irish superstar is far from outspoken but made an unexpected move in calling out Cameron over social media in the week following Serrano’s pullout.

“Let’s get it done @EddieHearn, this homecoming has waited long enough! @3arenadublin is available so let’s go give Ireland a night to remember on May 20. Let’s go @chancam91, happy to move up in weight for the opportunity to become a two-weight undisputed champ” Taylor on Instagram

Taylor asked for it and Matchroom/DAZN delivered, the homecoming goes on and in some ways, it is an even more intriguing fight. A fresh matchup, a fight that many feel is the toughest available for Taylor, and the opportunity to match Claressa Shields in being a two-weight undisputed champion and once again solidify her position as P4P #1.
