Update On Francis Ngannou, Potential Anthony Joshua Fight

Francis Ngannou took the boxing world by storm last weekend after a close split decision loss to Tyson Fury. Though he did lose, Francis is the hot topic coming out of the fight and many are wondering when we could see him again and against who? Well, Ngannou’s agent Marquel Martin answered some of those questions

Francis Ngannou Update

Francis Ngannou’s agent Marquel Martin sat down for an interview with Ariel Helwani on the MMAHour and gave an update on when we could see Ngannou back in action. “I think we see him again Q1 (quarter one) of next year. whether that’s with his partners in PFL, right, or a hybrid of some sort, I think all options are on the table and it’s really, it’s going to be exciting of who wants to really fight him, you know what I mean? It’s not so much Francis chasing anymore, which is a good situation to be in.” Though he couldn’t give the exact details of who Francis is fighting next, he did say; “I would say the decision is probably 90 percent made.” He also would not reveal if I was boxing or MMA.

Many options of what could be next are all up in the air. A Tyson Fury rematch and a mixed rules fight against Deontay Wilder are options, but on the topic of Anthony Joshua, Marquwel said; “What kind of emerged as of late was Anthony Joshua, right, we’ve had the conversations with Deontay, obviously Tyson’s there, but now Joshua can be a potential suitor. Obviously, Eddie Hearn, I have a ton of respect for him as a promoter and he does a great job, he thinks that Anthony Joshua can make light work of Francis and it’s just, actually, the team, we were hoping before the Tyson Fury stuff like ever came to be about, we were hoping that we got a chance to fight Anthony Joshua, like, I personally think that’s easy work for Francis.”

He continued on; “And I think Anthony Joshua didn’t really want that, but now, you know, if he’s smart, right, and Eddie’s a smart guy, it’s like, there is something to be said for Africa and those two knowing that AJ is a Nigerian, I believe. Right, you can make the case for Deontay Wilder because stylistically, power for power, everyone wants to answer those questions and I’ve been saying that publicly for quiet a while, like, Francis, his power is unmatched by any human being on earth. So, you have that spectacle and of course, I know Francis as a competitor, as an athlete, right, he’s going to want to prove to the world that not only did I beat him [Tyson] the first time, but I’ll beat him again more convincingly if you guys ever questioned it. So, that’s the exciting part. So, Francis is going to make his choice, he’s going to get that fuck you money that we talk about, he’s in that position, man, so I’m just happy over the moon for our brother Francis.”

He also did confirm that Eddie Hearn did reach out with interest, but no official talks have began just yet.
