Tokkers’ Tips – Teraji, Zepeda, Nakatani, Lopez
With four cards across 3 countries this weekend, there is plenty of action to look for in the betting markets, including William Zepeda, Kenshiro Teraji, and more.
First up on Friday night, Luis Alberto Lopez defends his title against Joet Gonzalez. I believe the winner of this fight isn’t really up for debate. Lopez should have enough to beat Joet. However, the method of victory is the question. I believe that Gonzalez will look to survive rather than win the fight. So my bet for the contest is Lopez on points at 10/11
William Zepeda returns on Saturday night against tough and seasoned challenger Mercito Gesta. I think Zepeda has far too much for the veteran however and should stop him. I believe Zepeda will look to settle into the fight before really looking to assert himself. My bet is Zepeda to win in rounds 5-8 at 7/4.
In Japan on Monday pound for pound superstar and reigning unified Light Flyweight King Kenshiro Teraji returns against former champion and mandatory challenger Hekkie Budler. I see Kenshiro being at his best and beating Budler into submission in the later rounds. My bet is Teraji to win in rounds 7-12 at 7/4
On the undercard in Japan, Junto Nakatani makes the first defence of his WBO Super Flyweight title against Argi Cortes. This, to be brutally honest, is a mismatch. Cortes’ best achievement in the sport is “giving it a go” against Juan Estrada, despite comfortably losing. I see Nakatani putting a beating on Cortes and finishing the job in a similar way to the Moloney fight in April with a stunning KO. My bet is Nakatani to win in rounds 7-12 at 8/5
Final Selections:
- Lopez on points at 10/11
- Nakatani to win in rounds 7-12 at 8/5
- Teraji to win in rounds 7-12 at 7/4
- Zepeda to win in rounds 5-8 at 7/4.
