Tokkers’ Tips: Jojo Diaz, Jaron Ennis

With a focus on Mexico and the US this weekend, there’s no shortage of fights to find value in. With Jarron Ennis, and Jojo Diaz in action, it promises to be a great week.

Starting off on Friday night on the Pacheco vs Gallegos card, a super flyweight battle between perennial contenders Jonathan Rodriguez and Israel Gonzalez will take place. Both having lost at the top level, to fighters like Jerwin Ancajas, Jesse Rodriguez, and Roman Gonzalez, this fight is that step just below the elite at 115. I believe that Rodriguez will be a bit too fresh for Gonzalez, who has a lot of miles on the clock at this point. Rodriguez on points at 21/20 is my play.

On the Golden Boy Card on Saturday, Jojo Diaz will look to get back to winning ways against Jerry Perez. I believe Jojo Diaz is, to be blunt, completely shot to pieces. Having lost 3 in a row (and having only 1 win in 5 Post pandemic), I believe this trend will continue. Perez punches hard, and is by far the fresher fighter. As well as this he is a natural lightweight, and not an undisciplined Featherweight. Perez to win at 4/1 is my pick.

On the TGB Promotions card on Saturday, Yoelvis Gomez will face Marquis Taylor over 10 rounds at Middleweight. Although Taylors 14-1-1 record looks impressive, I believe the telling factor will be his 1 stoppage victory. I simply don’t believe he can keep the overly aggressive Gomez off him for 10 rounds. Gomez to win by stoppage at 6/5 is good value in my opinion.

In the main event of the TGB Promotions card, Jaron Ennis faces a career best opponent in Roiman Villa. I believe Ennis will look to impress against Villa, who has the perfect style for him to look good against. I think Ennis can, and will stop him as Villa will be walking on to shots with his pressure style. Ennis in rounds 5-8 at 13/8 is what I’m going for.

Final Selections:

  • Rodriguez on points at 21/20
  • Perez to win at 4/1
  • Gomez to win by stoppage at 6/5
  • Ennis in rounds 5-8 at 13/8
