Saudi Arabia’s Skills Challenge Boxing Head On Heavyweight Tournament: “There’s A Specific Date In Mind, Both Fights (Fury vs Usyk, Joshua vs Wilder) On The Same Card”

Heavyweight Tournament Very Much In Play Reveals Amer Abdullah With December Targeted

Amer Abdullah, the head of boxing at Saudi Arabian company ‘Skills Challenge Entertainment’ has confirmed the rumours of a potential 4-man boxing tournament in an interview with Boxing King Media.

Rumours of this Heavyweight tournament included two fights on one card in December and Abdullah has now confirmed this is indeed an option. “December is the target date. There’s a specific date in mind. These names (Tyson Fury, Oleksandr Usyk, Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder) are in the mix.”

The two fights were rumoured to be the undisputed Heavyweight championship between WBC champion Fury and unified champion Usyk and the long-awaited transatlantic battle between Joshua and Wilder. Abdullah confirmed that both fights on the same night, on the same card is indeed the plan should the event come to fruition.

Malik Scott, the trainer of Wilder, and Eddie Hearn, the promoter of Joshua have both alluded to rumours of this tournament being true whilst Fury has denied this is the case. Abdullah has confirmed that relationships with all four of the fighters involved in the tournament are good and discussions are ongoing about the idea.

Abdullah has also clarified that the fights are not planned to be a ‘tournament’ as such as of yet, but rather two individual fights.

“If Prince Khaled decides he wants to do the fight, at that point I’ll reach out to those 4 parties. Until then, nothing is concrete, they’re all potential fights.”

A Heavyweight tournament including those four names or even a single card with those 2 fights would be enormous and one of those ‘believe it when you see it’ moments but Abdullah is confident that something as spectacular as this is exactly what Saudi Arabia wants to bring to the kingdom.
