Adeleye vs Bezus Results: Main Event and Televised Undercard
Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions took some of their premier prospects to the York Hall, Bethnal Green on Friday evening, live on BT Sport.
Heavyweight David Adeleye headlined the show against unbeaten Ukrainian Dmytro Bezus, for the vacant WBO European Heavyweight Title. ‘Big D’ had an electrifying start, dropping the much bigger man Bezus with a left jab mid-way through the first. Bezus recovered and managed to see out the round. However early on in the 2nd, Adeleye drew in the 6’6 man and landed a huge left hook. Down went Bezus, who was stopped after rising to his feet by the referee.
Adeleye has options in the flourishing British Heavyweight scene with potential opponents being domestic level gatekeeper Nathan Gorman, or British champion Fabio Wardley.
Mark Chamberlain moved to 12-0 in the chief support of the evening defending his IBF European lightweight title against former Italian lightweight champion Vairo Lenti. Chamberlain started well in the bout landing flush on the much smaller Lenti. As the fight entered the mid rounds, it started turning into a messy affair, with Chamberlain twice being warned for headbutting, and a lot of clinches being initiated by both men. Part way through the 5th round, Chamberlain unleashed a hellish overhand left hand, from seemingly nowhere, knocking out the Italian, who needed medical support from paramedics in the ring. But thankfully got to his feet.
Chamberlain could see himself in a fight against promotional stablemate Sam Noakes later this year. The Commonwealth Champion has long discussed a fight with the Portsmouth man. Another option for Chamberlain would be the winner of the British title rematch between Gavin Gwynne and Craig Woodruff.
Unbeaten super lightweight Henry Turner defended his WBC International Silver Title against Spaniard, Zeus de Armas. Turner looked brilliant in the bout, finding his range early in the first round. Landing flush shots throughout. Turner put his man down at the end of the 3rd round with a long, whipping left backhand, with de Armas looking like he was saved by the bell. Turner followed this up by finishing off de Armas with a brutal body shot in the 7th. Turner will look to step up in opponent next time out with a potential bout with Ethan James being rumoured.
Elsewhere on the card, Chris Bourke made his comeback after 11 months out of the ring, coming off his first career defeat to Marc Leach. After having a testing first round against tough Nicaraguan journeyman Darwin Martinez, Bourke bounced back dropping Martinez in the 2nd, and stopping him in the 3rd. Bourke will now look towards a fight against British and Commonwealth Champion Sean McGoldrick.
Also on the card, 19 year old Royston Barney-Smith continued his knockout streak, stopping his opponent in the first with a jab to the body. Cruiserweight Aloys Junior also stopped his opponent in the 1st round with a vicious left hook to the body. Carl Fail also boxed nicely, jabbing his way to a 60-54 points win over tough Serge Ambomo.
